In the long, sorted history of the Gävle Goat, it's rare that it makes through the Christmas season unscathed. Well, count 2017 as a banner year for the Pride Of Gävle, Sweden as the Gävle Goat survived! For the first time since 2014 and only the second time in the last 8 years, the 40-foot tall goat wasn't burned to the ground. In fact, it didn't even catch fire. There were no wasted tourists with lighters, nor flaming arrows from afar. No cars crashed into it. It wasn't stolen and thrown into a river and it didn't collapse. The security precautions, including 24-hour video surveillance and not one, but two fences surrounding the Yule goat worked and the proud statue lived!

We will all wait with baited breath to see if it can survive two years in a row.
